In a military coup in Bolivia on June 27, 2024, former military leaders, dissatisfied with the country's economic decline, demanded the current president, Als, to reshuffle the cabinet. They gathered troops to occupy the plaza in front of the presidential palace, even attempting to breach it with armored vehicles. Prompt condemnation from neighboring countries like Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela led to a swift end to the coup within a few hours. The main rebel leader has been arrested following the failed coup.
