Brazil's Agriculture Minister: No Need for Rice Imports

Reported 12 months ago

Brazil's Agriculture Minister Carlos Favaro stated that importing rice is unnecessary as prices have decreased, and the government will monitor the market. Previously, a rice auction was cancelled due to concerns about the winners' financial status. Instead of importing rice, Brazil plans to support local rice production through options contracts and allocate funds for agricultural purchases. Measures will be taken to increase rice production in flood-affected areas.
