Brazil's CBMM starts testing ultra-fast charging batteries in Volkswagen bus

Reported 8 months ago

Brazilian miner CBMM has begun testing a niobium-based battery in Volkswagen electric trucks, claiming it can be charged much faster than other batteries on the market. The company, backed by the Brazilian Moreira Salles family, aims to significantly increase its battery unit revenue to $100 million by 2026. The battery, developed with Toshiba using lithium and niobium, can be fully recharged in ten minutes compared to the hours conventional batteries require. CBMM plans to sell the product next year and expects it to have a longer lifespan operating in lower temperatures. The tests will be conducted on a Volkswagen bus with a 60-kilometer range, with the potential for significant industry impact. (Source: Reuters)
