Brazil's industrial output falls less than expected in May

Industrial production in Brazil fell by 0.9% in May from April, which was below the 1.7% decline expected by analysts. This marks the second consecutive month-on-month drop, with a cumulative 1.7% decline in the period. The production in May also retreated by 1.0% from a year earlier, better than the expected 1.7% fall. Factors like historic rains and floods in Rio Grande do Sul impacted the industrial output. The automotive sector and food products were among the largest factors dragging down output, falling by 11.7% and 4.0% respectively.
