Brazilian Meat Tycoons Expanding Into Oil and Gas Through Bolivia Deal

Reported 6 months ago

Brazil's Batista brothers, known for founding beef giant JBS SA, have expanded their energy interests in oil and gas by acquiring a company with natural-gas fields in Bolivia. Fluxus, owned by Wesley and Joesley Batista, completed a deal to purchase Pluspetrol Bolivia, with plans to send gas to the Cuiaba thermal power plant in Brazil. This move is part of Fluxus' strategy to establish a multinational oil and gas business in Latin America, while also operating in Argentina's Centenario field. Pluspetrol currently operates in various countries and has a significant daily oil equivalent production rate.
