Breakfast Shop Implements Minimum Charge for Air-Conditioned Seating: 80 NT for 40 Minutes, Owner Attributes to Rising Electricity Costs

Reported about 1 year ago

A breakfast shop in Taipei has introduced a minimum consumption limit of 80 NT per person for dine-in with a time limit of 40 minutes starting from the end of June. The owner explained that this decision was made in response to the increasing electricity prices and customers occupying seats for extended periods after purchasing only a drink or a small item. While opinions among the public are divided, some find the rule acceptable due to the limited seating availability in breakfast shops. The restriction is specifically for the summer season, and the owner plans to lift it during the autumn and winter seasons.
