According to the Centers for Disease Control, there was 1 new local case of dengue fever last week from June 11 to June 17, bringing the total to 2 cases since the beginning of summer. Both cases were in a cluster in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung. As of June 17, there have been 166 confirmed cases of local dengue fever in Taiwan, with 137 in Kaohsiung, 19 in Tainan, 9 in Pingtung County, and 1 in Chiayi County. Additionally, there have been 7 imported cases reported last week, bringing the total to 107 imported cases this year from countries mainly in Southeast Asia. The risk of imported cases continues, with a plea for mosquito prevention measures when traveling to affected areas.
