Former Mayor of Taoyuan and current Chairman of the Taiwan Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), Zheng Wen-Can, was accused of involvement in a corruption case related to land development. After being summoned by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office, Zheng was interrogated overnight and was deemed to have committed offenses under the Anti-Corruption Act. The court approved a request for detainment, but Zheng was released on bail of 5 million NT dollars, with restrictions on residence and travel. The Prosecutors' Office will appeal the decision.
