On July 5, 2024, around 12:43 PM, a Kaohsiung Light Rail train heading from C13 Pier-2 Penglai Station to C14 Hamasen Station was involved in a collision with a street vendor's canopy. The driver stopped the train immediately, following protocol, and there were no damages to the train or injuries to passengers. Train service resumed around 12:48 PM, with a delay of about 5 minutes. Initial investigations suggest the vendor's canopy encroached onto the track, although the vendor denies any wrongdoing, attributing the incident to strong winds causing the canopy to shift onto the track.
