On the night of June 15, Xiao Liuqiu experienced a major power outage around 7:30 pm, prompting Pingtung County Magistrate to contact Taipower Chairman for additional manpower to quickly repair the fault. Taipower reported at 8:30 pm that there was a submarine cable failure, but backup generators were activated and power restoration was expected soon. By 8:46 pm, power was restored island-wide. People used headlamp devices to continue their evening activities, and Taipower assured residents and visitors that the situation was under control.
