On June 24, 2024, around 5:30 a.m., a fatal car accident occurred at the intersection of Hanxi East Road and Taiyuan Road in Beitun District, Taichung City. A 65-year-old female driver traveling north on Hanxi East Road collided with a 57-year-old female driver traveling east on Taiyuan Road. The 65-year-old driver suffered severe abrasions and was pronounced dead after being rushed to China Medical University Hospital. The 57-year-old driver appeared uninjured at the scene. The incident also involved two additional vehicles, with preliminary tests showing the 57-year-old driver had a zero alcohol level.
