In Yilan County's Su'ao Township, a fire broke out in a residential home, trapping a father and son inside. The 89-year-old father was rescued from the first floor, while the 62-year-old son was found on the second floor and later pronounced dead despite rescue efforts. The stepmother, who was not home at the time as she had gone to work, survived. The cause of the fire is still under investigation with firefighters risking their lives to rescue the trapped individuals from the smoke-filled house.
