On June 12, 2024, around 5 p.m., a fire broke out suddenly at the rooftop extension of an old apartment building on Lane 73 of Yumin Street in Xinzhuang District, New Taipei City. Thick smoke billowed into the sky prompting a response from 32 firefighters and 8 firefighting vehicles. The fire was put out by 5:52 p.m., with the suspected origin being a bedroom and an estimated 10 square meters area affected. Although no one was trapped or injured on the scene, two residents were sent to the hospital for precautionary observation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
