Breaking News: Major Accident in Hualien! Debris Falls on Taiwan Railway Train, Current Casualty Numbers Unknown

Reported about 1 year ago

Due to the influence of afternoon convective cloud systems, landslides often occur in the mountainous areas of Hualien. This afternoon at 16:50, a collision with falling rocks occurred on the west Chongde-Herein section of the railway (at K51 inside the Qingshui Tunnel), resulting in the train stopping and passengers being trapped inside. Taiwan Railways has established a Level 1 emergency response team on-site, with the train currently stuck inside the Herein Tunnel. The driver is suspected to be injured, and the exact number of casualties from the incident is still unknown.
