On June 30, 2024, at 8:46 am, a tin factory in New Taipei City caught fire around 6 pm in Wugu District on Minyi Road Section 1. The intense blaze resulted in explosions and widespread burning of the factory. Firefighters arrived on scene promptly with initial assessments suggesting no one trapped inside. The New Taipei City government warned of potential air pollution in nearby areas due to the fire and advised people to wear masks, keep doors and windows closed, and wait for the fire to be extinguished before opening windows. About 205 firefighters and 75 vehicles are currently involved in rescue efforts at the estimated 500-ping burning site.
