In a work safety accident at a construction site in Xitun District, Taichung, a 44-year-old male worker surnamed Zhong fell from the 18th floor to the 1st floor due to a collapsed platform during work and was pronounced dead on site. Authorities are investigating whether the worker was wearing a safety harness. The Labor Affairs Bureau has initiated occupational accident inspections, ordered work suspension for improvements, and may impose fines of up to NT$30,000 to NT$300,000 for violation of occupational safety laws, with criminal liabilities including imprisonment for up to 3 years or fines up to NT$300,000. They have also provided support to the worker's family and activated occupational accident worker case management services to assist in handling related matters.
