On June 19, 2024, a citizen group called for a three-day gathering at the Legislative Yuan in Taipei in response to the parliamentary reform reconsideration vote this week. The event, organized by various civic groups, aimed to protest against parliamentary abuse of power and attracted about 1,000 people outside the venue in the afternoon, with organizers claiming 5,000 in attendance. Despite lower turnout due to heat and afternoon thunderstorms, the protestors chanted slogans before the event ended around 9:20 PM. Organizers called for more support for the following day, concluding the gathering with speeches from participants including lawyer Lai Zhongqiang. The event ended after chants from the crowd.
