A 49-year-old man from Banqiao District, New Taipei City, wearing luxury brands, drove a Mercedes-Benz and crashed into the Presidential Office on July 1. He was taken into custody by the police on the morning of July 2 and transferred to the Northern District Prosecutors' Office for investigation. After questioning, the prosecutor charged him with endangering public safety, requiring a bail of 200,000, restricting him from leaving the country for 8 months, and assigning responsibilities to his spouse. Despite residing in a well-off area, the man had displayed erratic behavior, refusing to cooperate with authorities. His motive for the incident remains unclear.
