On June 13, in the early hours, a fire broke out in Tucheng District of New Taipei City, resulting in three deaths and two serious injuries. Mayor of New Taipei City, Hou You-yi, visited the scene early this morning. The fire, suspected to have been caused by an exploding lithium battery charging, engulfed a residential building starting from the 4th floor and extending to the 6th floor. Five people were rescued, but unfortunately, one young man was crushed by the collapsed metal roof and was pronounced dead, while a mother and her son succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
