On June 26, 2024, around 12:20 am, a man in his 30s in New Taipei City's Zhonghe District fell from a building after allegedly being assaulted to collect debts, possibly to avoid threats from creditors. The man suffered multiple fractures and unfortunately did not survive, while a woman in her 20s passing by sustained minor injuries. It was discovered that the deceased owed 1.8 million New Taiwan Dollars in gambling debts and was assaulted by the creditor and others before the fall. The police are investigating the case to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident and have taken the creditor and associates for questioning.
