On July 5, 2024, at 2:11 pm, a sulphur hydrogen leak occurred at the CPC Taoyuan Refinery in Guishan District, Taoyuan City. Firefighters responded with 34 personnel, 17 vehicles, and 47 people on site for rescue, after receiving reports that a maintenance worker inhaled sulphur hydrogen during a blind flange operation and became unresponsive. One person was sent to Chang Gung Hospital in Linkou without vital signs, while the remaining casualties are still being accounted for. Environmental authorities are also monitoring the situation.
