On June 9, 2024, at 12:55 am, during the second day of the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend, two rear-end collisions occurred around 11 am on the northbound side of National Freeway No. 3, 17.4 kilometers north of Nanshen Road exit. The accidents involved 3 cars colliding in the outer lane and 2 cars colliding on the shoulder of the outer lane, causing a 3-kilometer traffic jam. Highway police arrived at the scene to manage the slow-flowing traffic while an investigation into the detailed causes of the accidents is ongoing.
