On June 14, 2024, at 1:55 AM, an industrial accident occurred in Yilan Longde Industrial Zone, where two employees in a metal processing factory were injured by fragments from a high-pressure gas cylinder explosion, resulting in arm and eye injuries. A 30-year-old foreign worker was hit in the eye and lost consciousness, while a 48-year-old surnamed Zhu, the factory owner, suffered a 10 cm tear on his left arm. Both were rushed to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries, but the cause of the accident, details, and why the gas cylinder exploded are still under investigation. It is reported that the explosion occurred during metal processing in the morning, possibly triggering an oven explosion, causing the high-pressure gas cylinder to rupture.
