On June 10, 2024, early in the morning, YouBike in Taipei encountered a major system malfunction, causing inconvenience for commuters. The malfunction affected not only Taipei but also other areas. Smiling Bike company responded that due to system abnormality, YouBike 2.0 and YouBike 2.0E electric-assist bikes were unable to provide rental services but the issue was being resolved. Taipei City Government's Transportation Bureau also addressed the situation on social media, recommending the use of alternative transportation and apologizing for the inconvenience.
