Brigitte Bierlein, Austria's first female chancellor who brought attention to gender equality during her tenure following the Ibiza scandal, has passed away at the age of 74. Appointed as head of an interim government after a political crisis, she focused on appointing women to half of her cabinet to promote equality. Her death was announced by Chancellor Karl Nehammer, who praised her as a trailblazer for self-determination, equality, and breaking through glass ceilings.
