It is extremely difficult for refugees to access medical care, especially in countries like Malaysia where the cost of cataract surgery ranges from NT$20,000 to NT$30,000, making it unaffordable for many. Refugees, like 37-year-old Lin Jue from Myanmar, who are at high risk for cataracts due to working in agriculture, often struggle to afford treatment and may end up losing their sight and livelihood, resulting in homelessness. Thanks to the collaboration between Tzu Chi's Kuala Lumpur Free Clinic and Optimax Eye Specialist Centre, refugees like Lin Jue can receive the necessary cataract surgery and regain hope for a better future.
