British cycling team faces theft of £70,000 worth of bikes during Tour of Britain

Reported 6 months ago

A British cycling team competing at the Tour of Britain Women had their entire fleet of 14 Ribble Endurance SLR bikes, valued at £70,000, stolen from a mechanic’s van overnight at a hotel in Shropshire. This incident is part of a series of thefts on professional teams at bike races, with similar occurrences in the past. Despite the setback, the team managed to secure spare bikes and start the race in Wrexham with the help of other teams. Additionally, one of their riders had already been injured by a reckless driver earlier in the week.
