British Farm Shops Face Closure Due to Tax Challenges

Reported about 6 hours ago

Hundreds of British farm shops may close in the coming years due to financial pressures from new tax regulations, with estimates suggesting that up to half of the 1,580 farm retailers could shut down, impacting around 25,000 jobs. The Farm Retail Association warns that changes in inheritance tax and increased costs from national insurance and minimum wage hikes are creating significant challenges for both farmers and farm shop owners, which could ultimately lead to a reduction in local produce availability.
