Mike Lynch, a prominent British tech figure, has been cleared of fraud charges related to the $11 billion acquisition deal of software maker Autonomy by Hewlett Packard, which had turned into a financial burden for the company. After an 11-week trial in federal court, Lynch was acquitted by a jury in San Francisco on all 15 felony counts, with a count of securities fraud being dismissed by the judge. The verdict marks a victory for Lynch, who had vehemently denied the allegations, and further complicates the troubled history of HP under then-CEO Meg Whitman.
