Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. and a consortium are investing in GEMS Education, a Dubai-based education provider. The investment, worth about $2 billion, is one of the largest private equity deals in the Gulf. The deal will allow CVC Capital Partners to exit its stake, and other investors include Dubai-based Gulf Islamic Investments, Marathon Asset Management, and the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter, with GEMS securing funds from Emirati banks to finance it.
