On June 25, 2024, a 70-year-old man surnamed Lai went missing, leading his 63-year-old sister to search for him. When she visited the family cemetery in Wugu District, New Taipei City, she was shocked to discover a decomposed body with a rotting skull, which turned out to be her brother. The sister had lost contact with her brother since May, where he had expressed suicidal thoughts. The police confirmed the identity and will conduct further investigations to determine the cause of death.
