In order to achieve the 2050 net-zero goal, Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior is implementing carbon reduction measures in the construction industry with a 'public sector first' approach, causing private sector buildings across the nation to also start taking action. By 2026, all new public buildings must achieve Building Energy Grade 1 or equivalent to nearly zero-carbon buildings before the regulations extend to private constructions. President Lai Ching-te emphasized the seriousness of the net-zero goal, with the Ministry pushing for legislative changes to enforce carbon reduction practices in all new private buildings as well.
