BYD reveals a hybrid powertrain that can support extremely long-distance driving.

Reported 4 months ago

BYD Co. has introduced a new hybrid powertrain capable of driving over 2,000 kilometers without recharging or refueling, positioning itself in competition with Toyota Motor Corp. and Volkswagen AG in the electric vehicle market. The upgraded technology will be launched in two sedans costing under $13,800, with the ability to cover long distances on a single charge and tank of gas. BYD's focus on extending range and slashing fuel consumption is highlighted, with the company selling 3 million cars last year and almost 1 million this year. The introduction of these long-range hybrids may further intensify price competition in the market.
