During a press conference after the Cabinet meeting at 2:32 am on June 21, 2024, the Executive Yuan approved the draft of the 'New Immigrant Rights Protection Law' proposed by the Ministry of the Interior to safeguard the rights of new immigrants, expanding the definition to include professional individuals, technical immigrants, and investment immigrants from various countries residing in Taiwan. The law also establishes a dedicated unit to promote various initiatives, expected to benefit over a million people. This move aims to enhance the protection of immigrant rights in Taiwan and facilitate their integration into the local community.
