Dharmesh Patel, a California radiologist accused of intentionally driving his car off a cliff with his family inside, will not face trial after a court granted him mental health diversion due to evidence of major depressive disorder. Patel had pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempted murder for the incident on the Pacific Coast Highway in San Mateo County. The court deemed him suitable for mental health diversion, despite opposition from the district attorney's office, and Patel will be released to his parents' home with strict conditions including regular court reporting and medication compliance.
