Calls for Establishing Jurisdiction over Overseas Sexual Harassment in the Travel Industry

Reported about 1 year ago

During a press conference at the Legislative Yuan today, DPP legislator Fan Yun urged the government to establish jurisdiction over sexual harassment overseas and to guide travel agencies in setting up self-disciplinary mechanisms and enhancing gender equality awareness. She highlighted a case where a woman and her mother experienced sexual harassment comments from a travel guide during an overseas trip, emphasizing the need for clear regulations and enforcement. Fan Yun called for four key demands, including defining which overseas behaviors should be governed by domestic laws and incorporating anti-sexual harassment clauses in guide and escort personnel management rules.
