Calls for Halt on Keelung Mayor Recall Drive as Signature Threshold Met in Second Phase

Reported about 1 year ago

The citizen group 'Mountain and Sea Citizen Dismantling Beam Action' pushing for the recall of Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang announced that the petition signatures have surpassed the required 36,000 and will be submitted to the Keelung City Election Commission on July 5. Kuomintang Chairman Eric Chu urged Lin Yu-chang and the Democratic Progressive Party to halt the recall process, aiming for a more harmonious and stable society. Chu criticized the use of hate and conflict by the DPP causing tension and insecurity in Taiwan, especially targeting Hsieh for exposing instances of public assets being turned into private ones. Chu's call was directed at DPP Secretary-General Lin Yu-chang, urging him to reconsider the situation in Keelung City and work towards unity and peace across Taiwan, discouraging divisive tactics.
