A man in Ontario, Canada, won $1,186 CAD (about NT$28,000) in a lottery but almost missed out on the prize money because he forgot where he bought the ticket, failing to meet the redemption requirements. With the help of officials, he was finally able to claim his prize. The man, Rirong Zhou, a local Chinese Canadian, purchased the lottery ticket in April 2023 but only realized months later that he had won. After submitting a claim in October 2023 and facing delays, it was discovered he had forgotten the purchase location, essential for redemption according to the company's rules. After media scrutiny and inquiries, the lottery company reevaluated his case, and Zhou was notified that the prize check was on the way.
