Wildfires in Western Canada are leading to mass evacuations from oilsands projects in northern Alberta, halting oil production as employees are ordered to leave. Canadian Natural Resources has evacuated workers from its Jackfish 1 project, stopping 36,500 barrels per day of bitumen production, while MEG Energy has also evacuated personnel and faces power outages affecting its production. The situation remains critical as crews work to contain the fires threatening towns and mining operations.
