Following a report of a cat's death due to consuming a Taiwanese brand of cat food causing low potassium levels, Taipei City's Animal Protection Office conducted an inspection and sent the problematic food for testing, which met legal standards for trace elements, 6 major items, and ingredient content. However, the manufacturer failed to provide information on the problem batch, related sales channels, and inventory. Consequently, a fine of 60,000 was imposed for violations of animal protection laws. In total, 63 inspections were conducted on various pet food products, resulting in fines for 3 cases, with 9 businesses penalized out of 25 pet food stores inspected last year.
