CCP Issues 22 Disciplinary Measures for Taiwan Independence, Wu Zheng: Did Johnny Chiang's Effort to Secure Taiwan's Participation in WHA Also Violate the Law?

Reported 9 months ago

The Democratic Progressive Party held a press conference titled 'CCP's Intimidation of Taiwanese, Remote Control of Media? KMT and DPP Act as Vanguard Urgently.' DPP pointed out that the Chinese Taiwan Affairs Office announced 22 measures on punishing advocates of Taiwanese independence on June 21, indicating Chinese interference in Taiwan's political discourse. DPP questioned whether legislator Johnny Chiang's recent advocacy for Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly (WHA) could be deemed a violation of the 22 measures. The party called for legislative support to strengthen national security laws and urged KMT's Chu and former President Lai Ching-te's views on China. The CCP document aims to shape the international narrative to align with one China policy, targeting not only the DPP but also other opposition voices in Taiwan.
