CCP Issues 22 Punishments for Taiwan Independence Advocates; Lo Wen-chia: No Binding Effect on Taiwan

Reported 9 months ago

Lo Wen-chia, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Straits Exchange Foundation, reiterated that the People's Republic of China has no judicial jurisdiction over Taiwan, so any legal norms have no binding effect on Taiwanese citizens. Lo Wen-chia emphasized that such documents, like the 22 Punishments for Taiwan Independence Advocates, are threats and intimidation that do not promote positive cross-strait exchanges and might even cause harm. With many national security laws in effect in recent years, including regulations giving national security law enforcement officers the authority to inspect passengers' belongings and electronic devices, Lo Wen-chia advised caution when traveling to China or studying there.
