The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a warning about the increasing risk of dengue fever worldwide. With nearly 10 million reported cases in the Americas alone this year, the virus is spreading globally. The CDC highlights that cases are likely to rise as global temperatures increase due to climate change, expanding the range for mosquitoes that carry the virus. Symptoms of dengue fever can be severe, with joint pain earning it the nickname 'breakbone fever.' Certain groups are at higher risk, and travelers to specific areas are cautioned. While there is no antiviral treatment for dengue fever, symptom management is possible with medications, and a vaccine called Dengvaxia is recommended for some individuals.
