In 2016, Yang Qiangrong leased a mansion in Taipei's Neihu district to celebrity Xu Nailin ('Nai-ge') to operate a casino, but later accused him of being the mastermind behind it. Yang was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months for defamation in the first trial, but the Taiwan High Court confirmed a reduced sentence of 5 months due to reconciliation with Xu. In response, Xu stated that he would defend himself against false accusations and warned against tarnishing others' reputations for personal gain. He also criticized light sentences for serious crimes, highlighting the need for justice. Xu's case had drawn significant attention due to the involvement of illegal gambling and personal attacks.
