The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has sued Walmart and its fintech partner, Branch Messenger, alleging they opened costly bank accounts for Walmart delivery drivers without their consent. The lawsuit claims that Walmart coerced drivers into using these accounts for payment, threatening job loss otherwise. The CFPB's director criticized Walmart for exploiting over a million drivers, while both Walmart and Branch Messenger have vowed to contest the allegations.
