Chad's Capital Arsenal Warehouse Explosion Kills 9, Injures 46! CSIS: Suspected Rebels Sending Signal to Government

Reported 8 months ago

A military ammunition warehouse in N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, experienced a fire and explosion on the night of June 18, causing 9 deaths and 46 injuries. While the government spokesperson mentioned the cause was still under investigation and the fire had been contained, local residents suspected it was a result of an armed attack. This incident occurred in the context of internal unrest in Chad following the re-election of late President Idriss Déby in 2021 and his subsequent passing, with his son assuming presidential duties. The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) expert suggested the explosion may have been a deliberate message to the Chad government.
