Chairman Spends $200,000 to Buy 380 Signatures for Terry Gou Petition, Format Not Compliant and Destroyed, Faces Prosecution

During the petition period for Terry Gou, founder of Hon Hai Group, to run for the 2024 presidential election, Tang Wenlong, chairman of the Taipei City Taxi Association, is accused of 'signature bribery.' After spending almost $200,000 to obtain over 380,000 signatures, the documents were destroyed due to format issues. The Taipei District Prosecutors' Office has now filed charges against Tang Wenlong and 7 others under the 'Presidential and Vice Presidential Election and Recall Act.'
