Kuomintang (KMT) chairman Eric Chu visited Keelung on the evening of the 28th to support Mayor Hsieh Kuo-Liang, stating that Hsieh did nothing wrong except possibly affecting the interests of certain individuals. The citizen group 'Mountain-Sea Citizens' Beam-Dismantling Campaign' initiated a recall against Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-Liang, with the second stage of signature collection entering its final phase. Chu criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for using Hsieh as a scapegoat to create social division, while also urging the DPP to change course. Additionally, there are talks of a potential counter-recall against DPP Keelung City Councilor Tung Tzu-Wei by the KMT if the recall against Hsieh succeeds, sparking further tensions between the two political camps in Keelung.
