The annual Nine-Day Cup event sees participants carrying a statue of three princes around Taiwan for 28 days, starting from Xiushe, Changhua County, and ending in Xiluo, Yunlin. This year, 200 people signed up for the event which includes a team of seven students from Kaohsiung, the youngest being an 11-year-old who participated last year but did not complete the race. The challenging journey requires enduring the scorching sun while carrying a 10-kilogram statue, testing participants' stamina and physical strength. Participants range from experienced to inexperienced, with the need for frequent rest stops due to foot discomfort. The event aims to create a unique sports experience for Taiwanese after being inspired by a journey to the Sahara Desert in 2011.
