Reported over 1 year ago

A delegation from the Atlantic Council, a Washington D.C. think tank, led by former Latvian President Egils Levits, visited Taiwan and met with President Tsai Ing-wen. Levits praised Tsai for assuming the presidency during what he considers the most challenging period post-World War II. He highlighted Taiwan's high global democratic ranking as an example to other nations, despite the threat of democratic backsliding in Europe and elsewhere. The delegation emphasized the importance of strengthening democracy, especially in the face of new threats like hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns.
